Lateral View of the Human Cortex with Labels

1) Precentral Gyrus (Motor Area)

2) Postcentral Gyrus (Somatosensory Area)

3) Central Sulcus (Fissure of Rolando)

4) Lateral Fissure (Sylvian Fissure)

5) Occipital Lobe

6) Temporal Lobe (including area labelled "7")

7) Primary Auditory Cortex

Entire Blue area is the Parietal Cortex

Entire Red area is the Frontal Cortex

Note: The white lines denote actual fissures or sulci whereas the black lines are estimates and do not follow a specific fissure or sulcus.   In order to separate the occipital and parietal lobes look at the parietooccipital fissure on the midsaggital view of the brain.
